Kynren to host special show for Queen's Jubilee weekend in County Durham

Tickets are on sale now for the summer return of spectacular outdoor show Kynren which this year will include an extra-early performance to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee weekend.

The award-winning event - full name Kynren : An Epic Tale of England - has a summer run lined up for Saturday nights between August 6 and September 10.

And as an extra treat in addition to those six shows, there is to be a special performance on Friday, June 3 to mark what it calls the 'momentous' occasion of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Early bird saver tickets - offering 10% off - are already on sale for Kynren which is set to be as stunning as ever with its live action mix of drama and spectacle on a vast outdoor stage at Bishop Auckland in County Durham.

Transporting audiences back in time, the family-friendly show gallops through 2,000 years of history - including royal moments - with action set pieces played out by a cast of 1,000 volunteers and animals in front of an 8,000-seater tribune 'theatre'.

Before taking their seats, visitors can enjoy a host of other attractions at the site, including a food and drink village and live jazz at its lake.

Then the show, which is produced by 11Arches, takes in big historic moments such as Boudicca’s battles with the Romans, two world wars, the Vikings, Tudors and Stuarts, Queen Victoria and the Industrial Revolution before finishing with a fanfare of music and fireworks.

This year's extra June 3 performance will begin at 9.15pm and finish at 10.45pm, with doors opening at the site at 6.45pm to allow people the chance to explore what else is on offer.

The later summer performances will have varying start times.

The current early bird offer available is a 10% saving on ticket prices before April 10 and the earlier the booking, the better the choice of seats.

For more information and to book tickets for any of the dates see here. The cost is £26 for adults and from £16 for under 18s. A £1 booking fee applies per ticket.

Children aged three and under can attend for free if sitting on an adult’s knee.
