Kylie Jenner and Nicki Minaj awkwardly clashed at the Met Gala in matching baseball caps and wedding-like gowns.
The Anaconda rapper, 30, marked her return to the prestigious fashion event in New York after controversially missing the bash last year as she refused to comply with the party’s strict Covid-19 policy.
Organisers of the soiree demanded guests be fully vaccinated, otherwise they would be refused entry, prompting Nicki to publicly state on social media that she wouldn’t be attending.
On Monday, the mum-of-one rocked up to the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in a show-stopping Burberry creation, wowing her fans.
The tiered tulle black gown was created by Nicki and Burberry creative director Riccardo Tisci, and despite her ample cleavage almost falling out of the tight dress, she managed to make light of her wardrobe malfunction.
“The only unplanned thing about my look is my boobs popping out, because they made my cup size a little small,” the 39-year-old explained.
The look was finished off with black crystals covering the rest of her body and face, as well as a unique baseball cap.
Underneath the tulle dress, Nicki wore a pair of leather trousers with a built in heel, and a huge corset style belt cinched in her tiny waist.
But her outfit was compared to that of billionaire beauty mogul Kylie Jenner, who made a return to the red carpet following the birth of her second baby in February.
The 24-year-old reality star arrived in a white ruffled dress with a mesh t-shirt, which was likened to a wedding gown, and the look was finished off with a white veiled baseball cap, which Kylie chose to wear backwards.
The mum-of-two rocked to Off-White creation in honour of the late designer Virgil Abloh, who passed away in November last year, and the dress is from the label’s fall/winter 2022 couture collection.
Fans were divided over the contrasting, yet matching, looks, but despite the similarities, many agreed that the outfits weren’t worthy enough for the high-fashion Met Gala.
“Nicki minaj and kylie are evil twin flames this met gala,” one joked.
“@KylieJenner and @NICKIMINAJ sported the baseball cap ahhh I'm hoping ppl don't compare they both looked stunning,” one added.
“Whoever styled Kylie Jenner and Nicki Minaj for the met gala needs sacking immediately. Baseball caps? No hun,” another quipped.
While one fan stated: “Nicki Minaj and Kylie Jenner need to be imprisoned for their outfits.”
Others thought Nicki’s cap suited her ensemble, with one tweeting: “The way @NICKIMINAJ effortlessly slays this hat look and @KylieJenner bombed hers so bad.”
“Nicki really followed the theme, the hat is different and edgy,” another agreed.
