Kylian Mbappe told to 'grow up' amid PSG exit rumours and Liverpool transfer links

Former France and Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit has told Kylian Mbappe to 'grow up' amid fresh rumours the forward wants to leave Paris Saint-Germain in January.

Mbappe, who revealed he had held talks with Liverpool over the summer, signed a new deal with the Ligue 1 giants upon failing to secure a move away to Real Madrid. But according to reports in France and Spain, the 23-year-old is already plotting his January departure amid a 'completely broken' relationship with his current club and disillusion at the tactics of Christophe Gaultier.

That's despite an excellent start to the new campaign in which the French side sit top of Ligue 1 with eight wins and two draws, while Mbappe has 11 goals in 12 games across all competitions. Such fallout has once again called into question the attitude of the World Cup winner, and Petit - who also won the World Cup with France in 1998 - has told the young star to 'grow up' and show some respect to his current club.

“I want to tell him, ‘Kylian, grow up, that's life’," Petit told RMC Sport. "Kylian, the sooner you solve your problems with yourself, the sooner your performances will be affected on the field and your relations with the public and your teammates will find a certain appeasement.

“He annoys everyone today. He makes it personal all the time. He even puts himself above the club. Has everything that has happened in recent months gone to his head?

“You were on the right wing when you arrived at PSG, then you were on the left. Now you are in the centre. But it's never fixed on the pitch. The players up front spend their time moving around and switching in their respective area.

“The club is more important than any one player. Today, Mbappe's statements are irrelevant and show a lack of respect for the institution, but also for his partners. Because by saying that, he is targeting his coach but also certain players. I find that regrettable."
