Kylian Mbappe's equalising goal in extra-time cost YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul $3,000 as he offered fans the chance to win the cash prize.
Paul is known for handing out money on Twitter whilst sporting events are taking place and that was no different during Sunday's World Cup final as he promised one fan $3,000 if Mbappe was to score for the third time against Argentina. The French forward already had two goals under his belt, but his side was trailing by a goal in extra-time and needed a third to tie the game.
"$3K for one person if Mbappe scores a third time in extra time or penalty kicks. Like, retweet and follow," Paul tweeted before tagging his promotional company Most Valuable Promotions. Just minutes later, Mbappe got his third goal of the game by scoring a penalty in the 118th minute, meaning Paul was forced to stay true to his word and gift one fan $3,000.

It's unclear if Paul has gifted out the money as he is yet to reveal the winner of his latest cash giveaway. Unfortunately for France, Mbappe's equalising penalty only pushed his side onto a penalty shootout with Argentina, which the Blues lost as Kingsley Coman and Aurelian Tchouameni both missed their spot kicks. Gonzalo Montiel scored the winning penalty for Argentina as the country became world champions for the first time since 1986.
Paul tweeted a video of him reacting to Montiel's winning penalty and captioned the clip: "Goosebumps. incredible World Cup. Mbappe and Messi put on a show." The internet star is an avid Liverpool supporter and often posts videos of him reacting to the side's games, despite fans giving him a hard time about it online.
'The Problem Child' only managed to fight once in 2022, beating UFC legend Anderson Silva in October after his fights with Hasim Rahman Jr and Tommy Fury fell through earlier in the year. Paul has gone unbeaten in six professional fights since ditching his internet fame for a career in the ring, with the American expected to face fellow YouTube star KSI next year.
Boxing fans were outraged when Paul was recently presented with a world title by WBA president Gilberto Mendoza and legendary boxer Bernard Hopkins, despite the 25-year-old being yet to fight a 'real boxer'. Paul even seemed embarrassed at the gift and awkwardly attempted to return it to Mendoza, admitting that he hadn't done enough in the ring yet to earn the title.
