Kyler Murray still ‘a long way away’ with recovery

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray is working hard in his rehab to come back from the torn ACL he suffered in December. While he has made progress in his recovery and is doing more in the weight room, head coach Jonathan Gannon tempered expectations a bit for Murray’s return, all while stating things are going in the right direction.

“He’s doing good,” Gannon told reporters Friday after the team’s first practice of rookie minicamp. “You can ask him about the rehab but I know he’s making strides. He’s a long way away but we don’t play for a long time either. So I feel good where he’s at.”

Murray is expected to miss at least some time to start the season but he is picking up the offense well in classroom work.

His ability to answer tough questions Gannon tested Murray with this past week won Gannon a bet.

Murray might be far from returning to the field but the season doesn’t start until September. There have been no setbacks and he is learning the new offense.

We can’t expect more than this at this point.
