Kyler Murray sent warning with Arizona Cardinals having strong quarterback options

Kyler Murray may well have a number of rivals coming for his job as starting quarterback at the Arizona Cardinals - even sooner than he expected.

Murray is set to miss time this season after suffering an ACL tear late in December, and while he has posted encouraging updates, which is likely to keep him out for significant time this upcoming season.

And with Murray set to be sidelined, long-term, competent back-up Colt McCoy will compete with exciting rookie Clayton Tune this season - before potentially turning to next year's talented quarterback class. But Tune hopes it will not come to that, and is supremely confident in himself and winning the starting job as he heads into his rookie year.

A talented, proven starting quarterback at the college level - Tune showed some strong attributes while throwing 104 touchdowns to 40 interceptions.

As a fifth round pick, being the ninth quarterback selected in last year's NFL Draft, Tune believes he is the best in the entire class.

He told Arizona Republic: "I think I’m the best quarterback in this class and God’s got a plan for me. If you look at my body of work, the effect that I have on my team that I play on, I elevate everyone around me.

"I’m a natural leader, people follow me and see the work that I’m putting in and the mindset that I have, and they want to follow suit. I have that no-flinch mentality when things get going tough.

"Those are some of the intangible things, and then being able to make every throw on the field, being able to make plays off schedule and being more mobile than people realize."

As well as having Tune for this year, the Cardinals were able to pull off a monster trade to assure themselves that they'll be picking twice in next year's first-round - a draft which is set to feature one of the best quarterback prospects in years.

While Murray is on a long-term deal, the Cardinals now have a new head coach and general manager - and may feel it necessary to find their own starter, potentially moving on from Murray who has struggled to win over Cardinals fans completely.
