Kyler Murray Misses a Few Plays After Taking an Elbow Below the Belt

Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray needed to leave Week 15’s matchup with the 49ers for a few plays early in the fourth quarter after taking an elbow from Clelin Farrell in a delicate place.

The play occurred when Farrell hit Murray after throwing the ball. The fifth-year veteran did what he was supposed to do to avoid a roughing the passer penalty, shifting his weight so he didn’t fully land on the quarterback.

However, some of Ferrell’s momentum carried down on his elbow which unfortunately landed on Murray’s groin.

Murray left the game for a few plays after the collision, replaced by rookie backup Clayton Tune. He entered the medical tent to be checked out while Tune fumbled and handed off for his two plays before a Cardinals punt.

However, Murray returned on Arizona’s next series, driving the offense to a field goal to cut the 49ers’ lead to 28–16. He threw for 211 yards on 26-of-39 passing for the day with a touchdown and two interceptions.

San Francisco eventually won, 45–29. But Murray may have required an extra bag of ice in the training room afterward.
