Kyler Murray might have to be activated off PUP, be active for game vs. Ravens

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray was taken off the team’s injury report on Thursday a day after being listed as a full participant.

While it was reported that his return would be in November, the Cardinals might be in a position in which they have to activate him from the PUP reserve and make him active on Sunday when they take on the Baltimore Ravens.

An offer for Cardinals fans

PHNX’s Howard Balzer learned league rules regarding players on reserves who are designated to return.

In previous years, players designated to return did not appear on team injury reports. This year, they do. If a player designated to return from a reserve, like Murray, does not have a practice designation or game designation on the team’s final injury report, it is required that the team activate the player from the reserve and put him on the active game-day roster.

So if the Cardinals’ final injury report does not list Murray, he will be activated on Saturday and he will suit on Sunday. The question is whether or not he would start or if he would be a backup and perhaps get limited snaps during the game.
