Kyler Murray compared to NBA star Kyrie Irving after "does he give a s***?" performance

NFL quarterback Kyler Murray has been compared to Brooklyn Nets NBA star Kyrie Irving for his unbelievable late performance which inspired their 29-23 victory over Las Vegas Raiders.

Arizona Cardinals looked out of the game and were 16 points behind to the Raiders with less than nine minutes left in regulation.

Murray led the Cardinals to two touchdowns and two 2-point conversions in the final eight minutes to take the clash into overtime before Byron Murphy Jr scored the winning points. It was the side's first win since Murray signed a new five-year deal worth more than £200 million.

Many including podcaster Bill Simmons were left wondering where the performance came from.

"I don't even know who to compare Kyler to," he said on The Bill Simmons Podcast . "He's really more of an NBA player than an NFL player when you're watching him.

"It's like watching this NBA star that just doesn't have it, doesn't seem like he cares that he doesn't have it. You're watching him from the stands, they're 3-15 and you're like 'does this guy give a s***?

"Then they start turning it on, they start making shots, then it becomes a little Kyrie-ish, where you're watching going 'oh my god, how do you stop this?

"Kyler is just running around, he can buy himself five seconds, six seconds, and if you try and grab him he squirms away and he's buying three more seconds. Then it was like 'oh Jesus', then they won."

Irving is known as one of most talented but unpredictable names in the NBA with one NBA Championship and an Olympic gold medal to his name. Meanwhile, 25-year-old Murray is in his fifth season with the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals lost their first match to the Kansas City Chiefs 44-21 and almost fell to a second defeat if it wasn't for a touch of brilliance by Murray.

"I came away from that game kind of disgusted by both teams. I thought the Cardinals were a hot mess, then Kyler kind of just got hot like an NBA player and he saved them," added Simmons.

"They certainly didn't look well-run, they didn't look well-managed... it was impressive they fought back, but the Raiders I thought were just so bizarre, game-management-wise, offensively, I didn't understand anything they were doing, especially in OT. Now they're 0-2."
