Kwon Hyeok-kyu has been handed an offer to join Celtic in the January transfer window, according to reports in South Korea.
According to Sports Chosun, the 21-year-old midfielder who plays for Busan IPark in K League 2 has received an 'offer' from Ange Postecoglou's side and they are willing to put up a sizeable transfer fee for the South Korean youth international. He is regarded as a 'masterpiece created by the Busan youth system.'
Hyeok-kyu signed a semi-professional contract for the first time in the second tier of his nation's football system in 2019, when he was in his third year at Kaesong High School. He's also played for current top tier side Gimcheon Sangmu during his mandatory military service and the defensive-midfielder has 34 appearances in the country's elite league. It's another midfield link at Parkhead after Yokohama F. Marinos midfielder Tomoki Iwata was reportedly close to a transfer, with a medical and red tape left to clear.
Cho Gue-Sung has also been linked with moving to Glasgow from the K-League after his exploits at the World Cup in Qatar. Already ahead of the window, Alistair Johnston and Yuki Kobayashi have joined the Hoops.
