The Rann Is the Threshold, Not the Destination
You arrive at the white desert and think you have arrived at Kutch. The Rann of Kutch is enormous and genuinely strange, a seasonal salt marsh that turns solid and blinding white in winter, stretching toward Pakistan in one direction and the Arabian Sea in another. It does something to your sense of scale. But the Rann is the border of Kutch, not its centre. The culture you came for is behind you, in the villages you drove through without stopping.
