West Ham have made donations to nine different animal welfare charities using the funds raised from Kurt Zouma's fine for attacking his pet cat.

The French defender was find the maximum of two weeks' wages, around £250,000, after footage emerged on social media in February of him kicking and slapping his pet cat.

Zouma is facing prosecution by the RSPCA following their investigation into the incident alongside his brother, Yoan, who filmed the footage.

West Ham decided against suspending the 27-year-old, who started their Premier League win over Watford less than 24 hours after the footage was published.

The club's foundation was tasked with finding appropriate causes to donate the funds and nine charities, a split of local, domestic and international organisations, have now been named.

Domestically and locally, the club have split the funds between six charities: Cats Protection, Celia Hammond Animal Trust, Hopefield Animal Sanctuary, National Animal Welfare Trust, People's Dispensary for Sick Animals and Pussycat Lodge Trust.

A further three international charities - the Humane Society International/UK, International Fund Animal Welfare and War Paws - have also benefited.

The RSPCA have confirmed that the process of prosecution has begun against the two Zouma brothers, who will face a private hearing once the court date has been set, which could drag into the summer.

West Ham did not donate to the RSPCA as they do not want to be seen to be potentially prejudicing the prosecution before it is completed.

Zouma apologised for his actions once the video became public but has not commented since, while the former Chelsea centre-back was also dropped by sponsors Adidas.
