KSI's former sparring partner hails "sharp" improvements ahead of return

KSI's infamous former sparring partner FaZe Sensei believes the star has made significant improvement ahead of his ring return.

YouTuber KSI - real name JJ Olatunji - will step back into the squared circle after more than 1,000 days out of action when he takes on rapper Swarmz and professional fighter Luis Alcaraz Pineda in the same night. The British star hasn't fought since his decision victory in a high-profile rematch with Logan Paul back in 2019, and he is now eyeing a big push to reach the pinnacle of YouTube boxing by facing Paul's brother Jake.

During the build-up for his fight with Paul, footage emerged of Olatunji dropping fellow YouTuber FaZe Sensei - real name Isiah Ocasio - in a session that went viral online. After seeing Olatunji in action from training videos and during his open workout, Sensei believes he has looked sharper than ever during preparations. "He has improved a lot and he is a bit lighter now and I like the way he is moving," Ocasio said ahead of Olatunji's ring return.

"He looks a lot shiftier and quicker on his feet, there is a lot more level changing and new angles. He looks a little big lighter on his feet with better balance and he looks razor sharp. I think YouTube boxing can continue after he fights Jake Paul, though this puts it on another map and look at the build-up they have been able to get.

"A few years ago, we never thought KSI and Jake Paul would be able to fight but now look at what the arrival of all of these new influencers would do, it is amazing and there is a bunch of up and coming new fighters who can take this on from here."

Olatunji arguably began the YouTube boxing trend having first shared the ring with Joe Weller. He then fought Paul in a high-profile white-collar clash which led to huge financial backing from DAZN and promoter Eddie Hearn, who put together the huge rematch, with Olatunji prevailing by a marginal decision. However, after his professional debut came several years ago, Olatunji believes he has made a whole series of adjustments to give himself the best chance of proving himself to be the leading YouTube boxer.

Recently, Olatunji sought the chance to reach the pinnacle of his YouTube boxing career by approaching Paul on Twitter. He wrote: "I'm going to send you a contract. We fight next year. Wembley Stadium. Winner of the fight takes all. 100 per cent of the purse will be on the line. Put your money where your mouth is and let’s finally end this. Will you accept Jake Paul?"

Paul later replied: "Good morning guy 'fighting' rapper with t-shirt on. Your hometown and winner takes all. 1000 per cent I accept, but one condition… you have to reply and admit that as of TODAY when it comes to boxing, I am better." KSI replied: As of today in boxing you're better. Let's run it b****."
