KSI issues mocking reaction to Jake Paul cancelling Hasim Rahman Jr fight

KSI implied that Jake Paul cancelling his upcoming bout with Hasim Rahman Jr was "nothing important" before promoting his own boxing comeback.

The pair have had a long-standing rivalry dating back to KSI's initial boxing match with Joe Weller in 2018, when he called out then-Disney Channel star Paul for a fight. Ultimately, the Brit ended up having a series of bouts with his Jake's older brother Logan, while the younger sibling forged a 5-0 professional career of his own.

But as KSI continues to prepare for his own return to the ring, he has mocked Paul for cancelling his first fight of 2022 at the last minute. The rapper, whose real name is JJ Olatunji, will face Paul's close friend Alex Wassabi on August 27, and hopes to get one more tune-up fight before eventually challenging Paul next year.

However, he was unfazed by Paul cancelling his fight with Rahman Jr, which would have been his first bout with a legitimate boxer. Taking to Twitter this morning, he jokingly asked fans "Just woke up, what have I missed?"

He later shared news about his group the Sidemen's newest YouTube video, set to be released today, and congratulated Jake's brother Logan on his WWE win over The Miz at Summerslam last night. But he continued to joke that he was missing something.

"Logan Paul absolutely smashed SummerSlam. I’m super proud of him," he wrote before adding: "We also have a HUGE Sidemen Sunday video coming out today. Over 20million views on Sidemen Tinder and I honestly believe this video coming out today could get similar if not more views… Still feel like I’m missing something big though…"

Ultimately, he came to the conclusion that nothing special had happened, and proceeded to share training footage for his own comeback and encouraged fans to buy tickets. "I feel there’s something big that I’m missing but ah well it’s probably nothing important," he joked. "Anyway get your tickets to see me KO boring Alex this August 27."

Paul's fight cancellation was the second in as many weeks in the YouTube boxing world, after Austin McBroom and AnEsonGib's fight set for last night was also called off. Gib had completed training camp, but needed further testing to be cleared by the California State Athletic Commission to compete.

That bout will be rescheduled for September, while it remains to be seen what Paul's future plans will be. He has now had three major bout cancellations in the past nine months, twice losing out on match-ups with Tommy Fury and now Rahman Jr.

He was able to wrangle a late-notice replacement when Fury pulled out the first time by drafting in former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley for a rematch. But Rahman Jr was the replacement for this one, and has also pulled out after he was deemed unable to make the cruiserweight limit.
