Kristaps Porzingis downplays calf injury from Celtics’ loss to the Magic

While it is never a calming experience to see Kristaps Porzingis leave a game with an injury given his history of ill health, when asked about the calf injury that saw the Latvian big man exit the Boston Celtics‘ Friday matinée loss to the Orlando Magic postgame, Porzingis downplayed his level of concern.

“I felt a bit of something in my calf and just kept playing,” he explained via the Boston Globe’s Gary Washburn. “I felt like, OK, it’s some kind of strain or tightness, something happened there, and you saw me limping a little bit. The medical staff pulled me out after that.”

“Nothing with the floor, it just randomly happened,” added Porzingis, referencing the slippery custom floors of the NBA’s new in-season tournament that have been a consistent safety concern for players.

“It’s hard to say (when I’ll be back),” he offered. “Tomorrow, MRI and we’ll go from there.”

“Honestly (I don’t feel concerned), such a random one that happened. I don’t think it’s anything serious. I look to bounce back real fast from this one.”
