Krishnan Guru-Murthy taken off Channel 4 after using swear word about Tory MP

Channel 4 News presenter Krishnan Guru-Murthy has been taken off-air for a week after he swore about Northern Ireland minister Steve Baker following an interview, the broadcaster has said.

Following a heated interview with the MP, the news anchor, who was born in Liverpool, said an expletive in footage which was not aired on the channel but has been shared online. Afterwards, Mr Guru-Murthy took to Twitter to apologise.

He said: "After a robust interview with Steve Baker MP I used a very offensive word in an unguarded moment off air. While it was not broadcast that word in any context is beneath the standards I set myself and I apologise unreservedly. I have reached out to Steve Baker to say sorry."
