Kris Boyd rages over Rangers draw as he 'wouldn't be surprised' if Gio van Bronckhorst's time is up

Kris Boyd has deemed Rangers title chances as over - and reckons that Giovanni van Bronckhorst's time in Govan is too.

After a 2-1 loss to St Johnstone last Sunday, the Light Blues drew 1-1 with St Mirren on Saturday. Celtic's 2-1 win over Ross County means they now trail the champions and leading side by nine points, with growing quarters of the fanbase demanding their boss departs during a World Cup break that lasts until next month. Former striker Boyd stopped short on Sky Sports of demanding van Bronckhorst leaves his role as Rangers manager, but can't see a way back from this predicament.

He said: “When you go on this run - they’ve been to St Johnstone and lost, limped over the line against Hearts and drop more points here - the title is over and I’ve got a funny feeling now so is Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s time as Rangers manager. If Rangers had scored a winning goal there it would have papered over the cracks.

"There’s trouble, there’s no doubt about it. There’s problems in that Rangers dressing room, whatever they may be. Will this be the last we see of Giovanni van Bronckhorst? I wouldn’t be surprised.

“It can’t keep going on. When the fans turn it’s very difficult to get them back. And that’s the case right now. They’re over clapping the fans - they don’t want that.

"They want performances. I keep hearing people say ‘just get to the break’ but Rangers have been a disaster after the break in the last few seasons. It hasn’t been good enough after the break.”
