Kris Boyd asks Bobby Madden for advice as Rangers legend quips 'you think I’d be a good Old Firm day ref?'

Jubilant Kris Boyd has asked Bobby Madden for advice on how to become a referee in the wake of Rangers' Scottish Cup win over Celtic.

The whistler was among the leading talking points after Gio van Bronckhorst 's men earned bragging rights at Hampden and reached the Hampden final.

Several pundits and fans have been critical of the performance of the man in the middle - but not Rangers favourite Boyd.

Boyd was quick to strike up a social media relationship with Madden following the controversial clash.

Madden posted a message after full-time on Sunday stating "Happy Easter one and all", leading to Boyd commenting "same to you."

Now Boyd's cheeky posts have continued, as he claims he could look in to becoming a referee.

Madden posted to his Instagram encouraging potential officials to apply before next season, stating: "No better time to become a referee and it’s never been easier."

The former Ibrox striker wouldn't let that one slide and quickly commented: "Just thinking I might apply for this myself.

"What do you reckon, Bobby? You think I’d make a good ref on Old Firm day?? Or Glasgow derby as some people call it!!

"I suppose I can’t be biased."

Chris Sutton was among several fuming Celtic fans and pundits hitting out at Madden for his performance at the national stadium, with Sutton claiming the ref was "embarrassing himself" with his performance.
