Kremlin-Washington Crisis Hotline Inactive Amid Ukraine Conflict

The hotline established for crisis communication between the Kremlin and the White House is currently not in use, as confirmed by Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov in an interview with Russian state media. Peskov stated that there exists a special secure line for communication between the presidents of Russia and the US, but it is not being utilized at present.

When asked if this communication line is still operational for emergencies, Peskov responded in the negative, indicating that the hotline is not currently active. The last known phone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Joe Biden took place on February 12, 2022, just days before Russia initiated its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
