Kourtney Kardashian says her IVF egg retrieval process 'didn't go the way she hoped'

Kourtney Kardashian opened up about her IVF journey and said the egg retrieval process hadn't gone the 'way she hoped'.

The reality star and her new husband Travis Barker have been trying for a baby and have shown parts of their journey on the Kardashian family's Hulu show, The Kardashians.

In this week's episode, the 43-year-old shared that "egg retrieval didn't go the way that we would've hoped".

"He was able to retrieve the egg but it didn't make it to the embryo stage," she explained. "We start back again and we are at Dr. A's office to check my follicles."

The episode also showed her at the appointment with Dr. A, with the star receiving some positive news.

The doctor told Kourtney: "This is the best it's ever been. We've never gotten to this point."

During a confessional, the socialite explained how she and Travis try to 'stay in the moment' when it comes to their fertility journey.

"It's nice to hear good news and have some positivity, so we love that but we just wait to hear the final thoughts from Dr. Wood once he receives my blood work and really gets to look at the follicles," she explained.

Kourtney and Travis - who recently got married - have been open about their struggles with IVF.

The reality star, who already shares children Mason, 11, Penelope, 8, and Reign, 6, with ex-partner Scott Disick, went to see a fertility doctor just two days after her engagement with Travis in October.

In one episode of the show, the mum-of-three is seen opening up to mum Kris Jenner about her ongoing attempts to have another baby, describing the process as “awful”.

Kourtney tells the cameras: "Travis and I want to have a baby, so my doctor took us down this road of doing IVF. It hasn't been the most amazing experience."

"The medication that they've been giving me put me into menopause - literally into menopause."

She goes on to add: "I think because I'm so clean and careful with what I put into my body, it's just having the complete opposite reaction and working as a contraceptive instead of helping us."

Travis is already dad to Landon, 18, and Alabama, 16, from his marriage to Shanna Moakler.
