Kosta Nedeljkovic on the Rangers star who acted as his agent

Kosta Nedeljkovic insists it was an "easy decision" to sign for Rangers after meeting Derek McInnes and five or six days of negotiations.

The Serbian right-back was this morning confirmed as the 11th summer arrival at Ibrox, penning a season-long deal from Aston Villa. Rangers will be obligated to make that permanent next summer, provided certain conditions are met across the campaign.

McInnes has further strengthened his defence after the arrival on the left side of James Penrice, who impressed on his debut against St Mirren.

Ross McCrorie and Dujon Sterling have shared right-back duties so far this season but both can play in other areas of the pitch, while Nedeljkovic is a specialist in that position.

After several days of chatting with the manager, the 20-year-old has opened up on his move to Glasgow in his first interview with Rangers TV.

"Yeah, it was amazing because the last five, six days we spoken a lot, so for me it was an easy decision after the first meeting with the coach," he said.

“I made this decision and I only wanted to come to Rangers. Three years ago I started my senior career with Red Star. After this I went to the Aston Villa and continued with Leipzig for 18 months.

“So now I come to Rangers. It's a big opportunity and also it's a big responsibility because I'm always obsessed with a big success and always try to stay positive and work hard.

“I know I'm ready to help the team. We will work together and progress together."

Having come through at Crvena zvezda, Nedeljkovic knows all about playing in huge atmospheres and in massive derbies.

Having heard all about Rangers, Ibrox and the fans, he feels it will be similar to what he has seen in his homeland, and is looking forward to sampling it.

He enthused: “I hear amazing words about the atmosphere here. So it's similar like Serbia. I feel from the first day, I feel here like home. So I'm very excited to play at Ibrox in front of the fans and I will give my best.

“I'm very excited. I cannot find the right words because Glasgow Rangers is such a big club, it's a big family, a big part of the fans.

“I'm really excited to join this club and to help with the team to have a big success together and to have an amazing season."

A new teammate of his is midfielder Vanja Dragojevic, who signed from the other side of Belgrade in Partizan.

As well as being on opposite sides of the rivalry, the pair have actually played together at international level, and Dragojevic was there to greet his compatriot upon his arrival.

“Yeah, let's say he was the night agent these past few days," said Nedeljkovic.

“Me and Vanja, we know each other for the last 10 years. He was in the Partizan academy, I was in the Red Star academy. So this is a little bit of a derby rivalry but we are so close friends!

“The first time when I went from Serbia three years ago it was hard adapting to life abroad and everything.

“I had to get used to living alone but now he's here it should help because we are so close in our private lives.

“In Belgrade, we're always going out, drinking coffee, speaking about everything.

“With the national team, we played together in the Under-19s, Under-21s, now in the first team.

“So we are so close and it's good for me to have him here. "
