KOLKATA: A 25-year-old man was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside his ground floor residence at the N block of the Baishnabghata-Patuli Township on Thursday.
Cops said the youth, Swapan Biswas, a food delivery man, had severe injuries on his head and blood marks were spotted in the room’s chair and even the bathroom. “Prima facie, it seems like a case of murder. We are waiting for the post-mortem report,” said DC (South Suburban) Awadhesh Pathak.
The victim’s father, Subhas Biswas, is absconding and his mobile phone is switched off. “This makes him a prime suspect. A probe is on to find out if any outsider is involved in the crime,” said an investigating officer.
According to police, the victim’s mother, a caregiver, left home in the morning when Subhas — a realty developer — and her son were both at home. “She came back around 10am and found no one in the house. She left soon after for work yet again, thinking her son had gone out,” said an officer.
It was around 12.30pm that Swapan’s mother returned again. Police said this time she noticed that the room was ransacked. She also noticed blood stains on chairs and bathroom. She rushed to the Patuli PS.
“We went there and recovered Swapan’s lifeless body under the bed. When repeated attempts to call her husband failed, the woman lodged a complaint, fearing her husband might have killed her son.
