KOLKATA: Kolkata Police sleuths are probing the role of a jewellery store manager on allegations that the she might have fled with gold and diamond worth Rs 2.5 crore to foreign shores. Complaints were lodged last month by a top jewellery firm headquartered at Bhowanipore after an internal audit indicated several costly items missing from the stocks.
According to police sources, the company came to suspect two of its managers after they found that other staff members had no access to these ornaments. The audit — completed in December — had identified the woman along with another officer as the prime suspects.
