KOLKATA: East-West Metro's Sealdah section is likely to be operational from Poila Baishakh - April 15 - after Metro Railway general manager Arun Arora said on Fri-day that the stretch has received the green signal from the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS).
"We have just received the CRS nod for East-West Metro's Sealdah extension. I shall propose to the (railway) ministry to commission the stretch on Poila Baishakh since it is such an auspicious day in Bengal," Arora, who is also GM, Eastern Railway (ER), said at the branding of East-West Metro's City Centre Metro station with LIC. TOI had reported on March 20 that authorities were eyeing a Poila Baishakh date for the much-awaited connectivity between Sector V and Sealdah railway station.
