KOLKATA: Kolkata received intermittent drizzles on Wednesday even as the monsoon trough has finally settled across south Bengal and is set to trigger more rain over the next two days. A cyclonic circulation has formed over south Bengal under the impact of the monsoon trough that brought heavy showers across the districts on Wednesday. The rain will continue till early next week. Kolkata received 8mm rain till 5.30 pm on Wednesday.
Kolkata could receive 30-40mm rain on Thursday, it has been predicted. A low-pressure is set to form over northwest Bay of Bengal on August 13 which could trigger further rain, said the Met office.
"Kolkata and south Bengal will receive light to moderate showers till early next week. The monsoon trough is now passing through south Bengal that has led to the formation of a circulation. It has started having an impact across the districts and Kolkata. The city may receive more showers once a low-pressure forms," said RMC director GK Das. tnn
