A man who knocked a stranger unconscious while high on drugs and holding a knife was spared jail after a sheriff heard he had suffered self-disgust at his actions.
Brian Lafferty, 22, attacked victim Timothy Ssebulime outside a flat in Stirling where people were socialising.
Falkirk Sheriff Court heard that neighbours of Lafferty had heard "a commotion" outside their flat in Cowane Street, Stirling. around 11pm, and a female guest who was visiting had commented that "her ex-boyfriend was a psycho".
