Knee slides, fireworks and Ruben Neves regret planned for Arsenal fans' Wolves celebrations

Arsenal celebrated like champions of the world after their 1-0 victory over Wolves at Molineux. The Gunners rose above the red card received by Martinelli to triumph in inspirational fashion over their Premier League opponents. Raising them to a pedestal perhaps no one else will ever see the heights of.

This rather hyperbolic description is how one who did not see the Arsenal victory might imagine it looks like based on the description provided by a salty Ruben Neves at full time. The two sides face off again this Thursday with the added narrative all too aware to both sets of players.

Yet, after Wolves' official social media account recommended the ‘right’ way to celebrate after their 2-0 win over Tottenham, thanks for that, The Arsenal Way team has been brainstorming how they would plan the celebrations at the Emirates should Arsenal pull off back-to-back wins.

To say that Neves’ words and the tweet from the Wolves account triggered me somewhat might be an understatement. So much so that I want to see as much ‘extra’ as possible shown on Thursday night should Arsenal win.

I think that Ruben Neves’ post-match interview should be played instead of any Arsenal goal replay on the big screens. The use of fireworks should be akin to that of the European Championship opening ceremony launched from the roof of the Emirates.

Aaron Ramsdale needs to work on his leg muscles in preparation for the longest knee slide in recorded history. The stadium groundsman will need to play their part too. Armed with curling brushes, as the goalkeeper begins the slide, the rigorous sweeping of his path needs to guide him on a lap of honour around the pitch ending in front of the Wolves supporters.

Finally, a copy of the ‘Celebrations for dummies’ guidebook should be offered to Wolves supporters upon their departure from the stadium.

Too much?

If Arsenal do beat Wolves on Thursday evening then I want to treat the celebrations as any other game because Bruno Lage’s side does not deserve special treatment.

Wolves are behind us in the league and we should not be looking down, as that will only decrease our level. If Neves has such a huge problem with us celebrating then they shouldn’t allow us to score or win the game in the first place.

However, I wouldn’t mind seeing a picture of Neves on the big screen when the tannoy is announcing the scorer against his team.

Wolves will just hopefully be another game where the Gunners are victorious, and we can celebrate the way we like until the next game comes around.

Over-celebrating should never be criticised by the opponents who created the opportunity, so if Arsenal do come out victorious, then Arteta’s side deserves to celebrate in any way they want to, even if there is a sly dig towards Wolves.

I would also like to see a social media dig by Lacazette towards Neves, similar to what he did with Ivan Toney after Arsenal’s win against Brentford on Saturday afternoon, just to put the icing on the cake.

Then let's end proceedings there.
