KitKat heist: Domino's UK announces ‘KitKat pizza’ after 12-tonne chocolate theft sparks memes

Domino's Pizza UK joined the internet’s meme fest with a light-hearted response to the recent KitKat heist, mixing humour with marketing flair.

“We would like to share our thoughts and condolences with Kit Kat following their recent sad news,” the brand posted on X, before adding, “On a completely unrelated note, we're pleased to announce we'll now be selling a new Kit Kat pizza.”

This comes after nearly 12 tonnes of KitKat chocolate bars were stolen during transit across Europe, prompting an investigation and raising concerns over cargo security.

Even as authorities look into the theft, social media has turned the incident into meme material, with users and brands flooding platforms with jokes and pop culture references.

According to Nestle, the shipment—comprising around 413,000 bars, was en route from a factory in Italy to Poland when it was stolen.

The company confirmed it is working with authorities and supply chain partners to trace the missing consignment.

In a statement, a Nestle spokesperson said, “We've always encouraged people to have a break with KitKat, but it seems thieves have taken the message too literally.”

Despite the scale of the theft, the company reassured consumers that there are no safety concerns and that overall supply remains unaffected.

However, Nestle warned that the stolen products could enter unofficial sales channels across European markets, adding that individual bars can be tracked through batch codes if needed.

Online reactions ranged from witty to dramatic. “Man, someone REALLY wanted to take a break,” one user wrote, while another joked, “We got a KitKat heist before GTA VI.”

“Mentally done… I also need a BREAK!!,” wrote another user.

Others compared it to scenes from high-octane heist films.
