Kirkwood Homes, in partnership with Balcarres Estate, has submitted plans to Fife Council for a residential development which could see 50 new family homes built in Colinsburgh.
The planning application submission follows three public events held during October, November and February, allowing local residents to learn more about the plans and ask questions to the project team.
As a result of the overwhelming feedback from the local community, a key change from the original proposals results in the public access road onto Mayfield Terrace being amended to cyclist and pedestrian only, in order to remove potential safety risk to residents, who use this road to access to the local park.
The final plans also include a central, shared courtyard which will have two points of access, which should reduce the site's traffic congestion and improve parking facilities.
Of the 50 new houses, 15 will be affordable, delivered on land south of Main Steet in Colinsburgh.
Allan Rae, land director at Kirkwood Homes, said: “We were delighted with the level of interest and overwhelming support our proposal received when we began consulting last year and we are pleased to have altered the final proposals in accordance with the views of the local community.
“We will continue to engage with the local community groups and interested stakeholders as we progress our plans.
“The development will generate a significant multi-million pound investment in the area, as well as much needed new family homes which will help sustain Colinsburgh for years to come.”
It is anticipated that the application could be determined by the local council later this year, with construction beginning in early-to-mid 2024.
Kirkwood is based in Sauchen, Aberdeenshire and has 39 years of construction experience across Fife, Dundee, Aberdeen and Inverness.
The company has a turnover of more than £50m and directly employs around 130 people.
