Kirkcudbright vintage afternoon tea raises more than £1,000 for Cancer Research UK

A vintage afternoon tea in Kirkcudbright raised more than £1,000 for charity.

Cakes, sandwiches and the option of prosecco went down very well in the town’s bowling club.

The event was part of local doctor Graham McLean’s fundraising efforts for Cancer Research UK, with a fantastic £1,200 raised.

Graham, 63, who works at Solway Medical Group, is running the London Marathon in October to raise funds and awareness for
the charity.

He said: “The day went very well, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

“I was extremely grateful to all those who came, contributed and helped, especially staff from the health centre, who give up their time on such a lovely day.”

Other fundraisers include plant sales and a retro disco with a promise auction at the Arden House Hotel in Kirkcudbright on August 27.
