One thing nobody can deny about Atlanta Falcons head coach Raheem Morris is that he embraces expectations instead of running from them.
While it’s easy to say this team just needed a quarterback, the pressure to perform after signing Kirk Cousins was only magnified by the team’s decision to draft Michael Penix Jr. in the first round.
The Falcons have lived up to the hype through their first nine games, defeating the Dallas Cowboys, 27-21, on Sunday to improve to 6-3.
Cousins delivered once again, passing for 222 yards and three touchdowns in Atlanta’s fifth win in the last six weeks. After the game, reporters asked him to explain this team’s success. and he credited his head coach.
“I think it starts with Raheem Morris as our head coach setting the tone each week… play with great effort, and from there, it kind of trickles down to our captains and our locker room,” said Cousins.

The Falcons quarterback also made it clear the team still has a lot to improve upon. “There were positives, but there was also a lot we left out there,” explained Cousins.
Atlanta’s defense also deserves credit for stepping up against an explosive Dallas offense. Kaden Elliss played exceptionally well and the team came up with three sacks against Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.
“The sky’s the limit and we’ve just got to continue getting better and better every week,” Morris said after his team’s sixth win of the season.
