Burst pipes at Tulloch Park have resulted in the postponement of this weekend’s big Perthshire derby.
Kinnoull were set to welcome local rivals Luncarty for a year-ending cracker in the East of Scotland League’s Conference B.
But changing rooms at the Perth venue flooded and the game will now be rescheduled for some point later in the season.
“It was gutting when we were given the heads up,” said Kinnoull manager Alan Cameron.
“Thankfully work done by the committee prevented it from being a worse situation so credit to the hard work that goes on in the background.”
It was set to be Kinnoull’s first game in more than a month following a disruptive December due to freezing and wintry conditions wreaking havoc on the fixture schedule.
“We have kept the lads ticking over during festive period although the weather has played havoc with our training schedule,” Cameron said.
“It is difficult when even friendly games are being called off due to weather and opponents are not able to manage after games have been arranged.
“Hopefully we can get something arranged early in the new year, prior to a difficult trip to Kennoway Star Hearts in the first weekend fixtures of 2023.”
Luncarty, who sit seventh in the table and just one point back of Kinnoull, will now be training this weekend to keep the legs ticking over.
They are next scheduled to take to the field on January 7 when Whitehill Welfare will travel to Brownlands Park.
“The boys have had a few days off but we were back training Thursday and now, with the game off, we will train Saturday too,” Holden told the PA.
“It’s a bit frustrating with another game off but it’s the norm at this time of year, just one of those things.
“We need to be ready moving forward as there is no room for error if we want to be up there come the end of the season. It’s time for a run if the players want to be competing come May.”
Junior and amateur fixtures return to the region on Saturday, January 7.
