GWS insist a contract extension for Adam Kingsley "will take care of itself" after the talented coach made quick work of lifting the Giants out from the muddy trenches and back into contention.
Kingsley is expected to soon sign an extension beyond his existing three-year deal that finishes at the end of the 2025 AFL season.
"We're still discussing things at the moment ... I've spent the week in Perth, so we haven't caught up for over a week," GWS chief executive Dave Matthews said following a club sponsorship announcement on Friday.
"And yeah, we're very, very pleased with the work Adam is doing - obviously coach of the year last year.
"He's got us right in the race again this year, so I'm sure those things will take care of themselves in the next few weeks."
Kingsley wasted little time in pushing the Giants, who finished 16th in 2022, up the ranks in his first season as a senior coach, with GWS climbing up nine spots in 2023 and reaching a preliminary final.
As a result, Kingsley was voted by his peers as the AFL Coaches' Association coach of the year.
Smiling ear to ear when asked about contract updates, the former Port Adelaide player said his situation was still under discussions, "but it is making progress so that's nice".
These days, Kingsley's focused on his players and getting the seventh-placed Giants to the season's finish line, no matter the media fuss over the tribunal and defenders traipsing off to the Olympics.
GWS defender Jack Buckley made headlines recently about his seemingly unlikely hopes of taking time off to watch his Olympian girlfriend Celeste Mucci race in Paris.
"(It's) becoming a little bit of a story and what people fail to do is ask Jack (Buckley) what he wants to do," Kingsley joked.
What Kingsley reads and what Buckley tells him might be "two completely different things".
But as far as the senior coach is concerned, the defender will be training and preparing to face the Brisbane Lions come August.
And regardless, Buckley's club - and his coach - are eager to watch Mucci compete in the 100m hurdles, even if from afar.
