Shane van Gisbergen remains in contention to claim a third-straight Supercars title after winning the Bathurst 1000 by the biggest margin in 24 years.
The Triple Eight star cantered to back-to-back victories at Mount Panorama - the first time a driver has achieved the feat since 2008 - on Sunday.
Van Gisbergen headed to the famed regional NSW venue 151 points behind championship leader Brodie Kostecki.
But the Erebus star came in second - a gaping 20 seconds off the pace but still his best Bathurst 1000 finish - so van Gisbergen only cut the gap to 131 points.
The endurance stint of the season is over and two races each will be held at the Gold Coast and Adelaide rounds to determined the champion.
"Anything can happen," van Gisbergen said when asked about his title prospects.
"Obviously Brodie's doing very well, he doesn't make many mistakes.
"He's an awesome driver and their raw speed is definitely better than ours; our race pace is always pretty close.
"Gold Coast is one of my better tracks and Adelaide is OK so hopefully we can put some pressure on them, but (131) points is still a lot."
Kostecki was in no mood to take positives out of Mount Panorama after failing to convert pole, having won the top-10 shootout by the biggest margin since 1999.
"Not really, I want to win races," the 25-year-old said.
Despite moving to NASCAR next season, van Gisbergen has vowed to be back racing at Mount Panorama in some capacity in the future.
"I like this place and love the series still. I want it to be successful," the 34-year-old said.
"Next year, I'm going to fully immerse myself in NASCAR. I don't know what my schedule is next year, but if it allows I'll come back here.
"I want to be in the cup series so I'm doing everything I can to get there."
Van Gisbergen wanted his Bathurst co-driver Richie Stanaway to fill his seat at Red Bull Ampol next year, but Erebus' Will Brown is moving across instead.
Stanaway and van Gisbergen became only the second all-New Zealand pair, and first since 1999, to win at Bathurst.
After a difficult period following his exit as a full-time Supercars driver in 2019, Stanaway's victory was an emotional one.
The 31-year-old has already booked a full-time drive with Grove Racing next year.
"It was a pretty rough time, to be honest, when I stopped racing," Stanaway said.
"If you'd asked me a couple years ago I'd be up here on the top step of Bathurst I would have said it felt like a million miles away."
