'King' Guramrit Sidhu sentenced to 20 years in prison in Los Angeles for US-Canada drug trafficking; spared from life sentence as lawyer says his offence was not violent

Guramrit Sidhu, the 63-year-old Indian-origin Canadian, popularly nicknamed as 'King', has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for running a vast cross-border drug network for years. Sidhu was arrested in 2024 and pleaded guilty on March 26 this year to one count of engaging in a continuing criminal enterprise. His plea argument said he led the organization for a brief period of time -- from September 2020 to February 2023.
