A new photo released of King Charles on his first birthday as UK monarch shares a "possible message" of the passions and causes that he shares with Prince Harry, a body language expert has claimed.
The image has been released to mark the King's 74th birthday and to announce a new role he has taken over from his late father Prince Philip - the job of Ranger of Windsor Great Park.
The image shows the monarch in a tweed blazer, tie and corduroy trousers leaning against an ancient oak tree in the park.
The King's release of a photo to mark his birthday is a continuation of royal tradition, but a body language expert has said the image marks a shift in mood from last year's image.
Judi James also said photograph connected Charles to a second important royal and alluded to a "possible message".
Harry's official portraits of himself and his family had famously shown them posing beneath or close to a very similar looking tree, she explained.
She said there were also physical parallels between the two royals.
Charles had adopted "like Harry" a "more casual style of dress", she told Express.co.uk.
She concluded: "This photograph with its messages of the continuity of nature and the symbol of the tree of life, does seem to remind us of the passions and causes that the father and son share, despite their apparent alienation."
Judi stated that the image released in 2021 showed an image of a prince looking extremely regal, in spite of the outdoor setting.
"His pose was totally suitable for the role of King that he was to take on, with a piercing eye expression greeting the camera to connect directly with the viewer," she said.
There were no signs of relaxation, she said, rather that formality and tradition radiated from the picture.
"His smile is also formal, suggesting a king looking at a subject rather than an approachable and more accessible man showing signals of approachability."
His 73rd birthday photograph captured a different side of the monarch and appeared to be taken candidly, rather than posed.
Judi continued: "This version of Charles the King is suddenly distant, both physically and emotionally, and almost spiritual-looking."
She said the framing suggested he was unaware of the camera, while his pose was "reflective and intellectual", placing him in a more philosophical-looking role.
The ancient tree he was pictured with highlighted his "passion for conservation and the environment, she said, and could also echo his relationship with his wife.
Charles and Camilla were snapped in an iconic photo back in their youth, in which they were pictured standing either side of a huge tree trunk.
