King Charles seen for first time since Prince Harry's Coronation bombshell confirmed

The King has been spotted in public for the first time since the revelation that Harry would be attending the Coronation without wife Meghan Markle.

King Charles was seen attending the 200th Sovereigns Parade at Sandhurst Military Academy in Surrey on Friday morning, just weeks ahead of the ceremony which will see him officially crowned, reports the Mirror.

The Royal was seen in full military attire for the parade which celebrates military cadets completing 44 weeks of gruelling training.

His appearance is the first since Buckingham Palace announced on Wednesday that Harry would be attending without Meghan or their two children.

A spokesman for the Palace said: "Buckingham Palace is pleased to confirm that the Duke of Sussex will attend the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on 6th May.

"The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet."

The coronation will coincide with Archie's fourth birthday, meaning Harry will miss out on his son's celebrations back in the US.

Royal biographer Omid Scobie said the clash of dates played a major role in the couple's decision, and that Harry's trip back to the UK would be a "brief" one.

The confirmation finally ended months of rumours over whether both - or either - would attend the celebrations following growing rifts between Harry and his family.

Sources said the King would be "delighted" over the news his son would be there, despite the recent controversy over Harry and Meghan's tell-all Netflix docuseries and his memoir, 'Spare', which made several bombshells about disharmony in the family.

A royal source meanwhile said it was "fully expected" that Harry would stay at Frogmore Cottage, which he and Meghan were ordered to vacate earlier this year, while he is here as the King had granted him a reprieve until after the Coronation.
