King Charles has taken on lots of new responsibilities since his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, passed away - but it doesn't make his grandchildren any less of a priority. The new monarch was overjoyed when he became a grandad at aged 65 after William, Prince of Wales and his wife Catherine welcomed their first child, Prince George, into the world.
He described George's arrival as "an incredibly special moment for William and Catherine", and said how becoming a grandparent is a "unique moment in anyone's life". Speaking at the time, he said: "I am enormously proud and happy to be a grandfather for the first time."
King Charles has five grandchildren - Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, children of William and Kate, and Archie and Lilibet, children of Prince Harry and his wife Meghan.
He also has five step-grandchildren through Queen Consort Camilla's children from her first marriage to Andrew Parker Bowles.
Camilla's grandchildren are Lola and Freddy Parker Bowles, and Eliza and twins Louis and Gus Lopes.
Alike many grandparents, King Charles enjoys spoiling his grandchildren with gifts on their birthdays and at Christmas - but he much prefers spending quality time with them.
To honour the new monarch, we have collated some of His Majesty's iconic moments as a grandad.
Gifts to Prince George
The doting grandfather transformed a piece of land near Balmoral Castle into an arboretum, and named it after his firstborn grandson, Prince George.
He said: "This was a rather empty field that the farm didn't need anymore.
"The great thing was, I managed to plant it the same year that my grandson was born, the eldest, George. So, I thought I'd call it Prince George's Wood.
"It’s really for autumn colour and a bit of spring, but autumn is the magic up here. So finding all the interesting trees and shrubs that turn an interesting colour is half the battle."
But this isn't the only remarkable gift Prince George has been given by his grandad as he was surprised with a £18,000 Wendy house with a wood-burning stove and day bed to play in at his grandfather's Highgrove house to celebrate his first birthday in 2014.
Now nine-years-old, the future king is said to play in it alongside his siblings Princess Charlotte, aged seven, and Prince Louis, aged four.
Bouncing Price Louis on his knee
Prince Louis shared a sweet moment with his grandfather after he became restless during the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Pageant.
King Charles picked up his grandson, put him on his knee and rocked him from side to side as they watched the show together.
The four-year-old got restless while watching the parade and was seen dancing during the sensational show much to the amusement of TV viewers.
Spinning children around
In a family moment rarely seen by the public, King Charles was seen spinning his grandchildren around when playing with them in the garden.
A BBC documentary showed the monarch's love for his family as he grabbed hold of one of his step-grandchild's arms before spinning around in small circles.
Providing an insight into King Charles's relationship with her grandchildren, Camilla said: "He will get down on his knees and crawl about with them for hours, you know making funny noises and laughing and my grandchildren adore him, absolutely adore him.
"He reads Harry Potter and can do all the different voices and I think children really appreciate that."
Snuggles with Prince Louis
In a documentary made to celebrate his 70th birthday, King Charles shared an adorable image of his grandson, Prince Louis.
In the picture, His Majesty is seen holding on to little Louis' hand while looking at him with so much love in his eyes.
The image became the first official photograph seen of the young prince following his christening day in July 2018.
Delight over Princess Charlotte
When Princess Charlotte was born in 2015, King Charles couldn't contain his excitement over his "beautiful" granddaughter, admitting he was really hoping for a girl.
Speaking at the time, he told a well wisher: "I am thrilled. I was hoping for a granddaughter – someone to look after me when I am very old."
Missing Archie and Lilibet
As two of his grandchildren live overseas with their parents Harry and Meghan, King Charles doesn't get to see them as often as he would like.
However, he had an "emotional" reunion with little Archie earlier this year when he finally got to meet his youngest granddaughter Lilibet face-to-face for the first time.
He said he was "absolutely thrilled" to spend time with his grandchildren and catch up with Harry and Meghan.
