King Charles' poignant nod to Meghan Markle during Joe Biden's UK visit

King Charles III welcomed US President Joe Biden to Windsor Castle on Monday - and seemingly gave a subtle nod to his youngest son Prince Harry and his American wife Meghan Markle.

The presidential visit came as the King and president met participants of the Climate Finance Mobilisation forum. The duo took tea in the Oak Room, His Majesty's personal sitting room overlooking the castle’s famous Quadrangle. This meeting lasted approximately 20 minutes and only a handful of advisors from each side were present. It's thought that this meeting went on longer than planned as the two men were getting on so well.

Afterwards the King invited his special guest to take in a display of items from the Royal Collection in the White Drawing Room. The items were related to the Royal Family’s relationship with previous Presidents of the United States, such as President Roosevelt, President Kennedy and President Eisenhower.

But it was the next moment which could have been seen as a nod Prince Harry and his wife as he took the US president to the Green Drawing Room. They were joined by Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero Grant Shapps and United States Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry.

The significance comes as these official images were taken in the same location Meghan and Harry posed for their wedding photos.

In the pictures taken at Harry and Meghan's wedding, the groom was stood one pace behind the bride. It was taken just an hour after the ceremony, which was watched by millions around the world.

Other photos included Harry and Meghan pictured with members of the royal family. Meghan's mother Doria Ragland, the only member of the Duchess of Sussex's family to attend her big day, also stood proudly alongside her daughter.

The bride's adorable six bridesmaids and four page boys are also in one snap and also take pride of place in a third image, looking happy relaxed as they surrounded the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Prince Harry and Meghan have continued to distance themselves from his family of late after making a number of startling claims in the press and in his memoir. The duo are currently focusing on their next move following the ending of the Spotify contract after just one series.

They still have a deal with Netflix and it's thought Harry is looking at going solo in a bid to film a trip to Africa. The project is thought to be the next phase of the couple's $98 million deal with the streaming service giant.
