King Charles left 'exhausted' by Coronation celebrations and gruelling schedule

King Charles has had an extremely busy week as he began preparing for his Coronation days before the ceremony on Saturday, followed by a long weekend of celebrations.

Despite his "exhaustion" from the hectic festivities, the 74-year-old sovereign has no plans to slow down anytime soon, the Mirror reports.

Only hours before he and Queen Camilla were crowned, His Majesty held a reception at Buckingham Palace for foreign dignitaries and royalty with his cousin, Frederik, Crown Prince of Denmark and his wife, Princess Mary at the event.

Elsewhere, the likes of King Abdullah and Queen Rania of Jordan attended as well as Prince Albert and Princess Charlene.

Following the historic Coronation ceremony on May 6, the new monarchs hosted a large dinner party at Buckingham Palace before making their way to Windsor Castle on Sunday for the Coronation Concert. Their Majesties will also be holding a garden party for the community at their official Scotland residence, the Palace of Holyrood.

Sources have now claimed that the monarch has been "exhausted" by his persistent and demanding schedule.

Kate Nicholl told GB News: "I spoke to someone close to the king this morning. I said, 'how is he feeling because he did a pre-party, pre-concert party and then after party and did that skit for American Idol, you know, brilliant."

Kate told the hosts: "The source said, 'exhausted but knackered. I'm not surprised, they need a good rest now because it has been a pretty epic weekend for them.

"Saturday was the day that he's waited his entire life for, you imagine the emotional energy that goes into a day like that, but I think overall it has been a great success."

Sunday night's highly-anticipated Coronation Concert brought in an average of around 10.1 million viewers according to official figures from the BBC.

Kate Phillips who is the BBC Director of Unscripted said: "Last night's Coronation Concert was an unforgettable evening of spectacular performances that brought us all together in celebration.

"Against the stunning backdrop of Windsor Castle, the concert reflected many of the King's passions and highlighted the outstanding talent we have in the UK and beyond."

With reference to the remarkable performance by Take That, she said: "We hope that viewers 'never forget' it".

However, not all senior members of the Royal Family were present at Windsor Castle at the show as Prince Harry jetted back to California to be with Meghan Markle and their two kids just minutes after the Coronation ended.

The Duchess decided to skip the historical ceremony and instead remained in Montecito to celebrate Prince Archie's fourth birthday.

However, royal reporter Omid Scobie revealed that the real reason she chose to not attend the event was because she did not feel "welcome enough".

It's understood that His Majesty raised a toast to his four-year-old grandson at his post-Coronation dinner.
