Buckingham Palace revealed on Monday that King Charles has been diagnosed with cancer, leading him to postpone his public-facing duties while he undergoes treatment. However, he will continue to carry out state business and official paperwork. It has been reported that his weekly audience with the British Prime Minister will still take place.
In the event that the King's illness worsens and he becomes incapacitated, appointed councillors of state, such as Queen Camilla and Prince William, may be called upon to fulfill his constitutional duties. These individuals have the authority to deputize for the King in matters of state if necessary, but currently, there are no plans to invoke this arrangement.
