King Charles coronation 2023 in Wales: Key dates, events and plans to celebrate

It’s been 70 years since Queen Elizabeth was crowned in 1953 and to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III Wales is putting on a show. In Cardiff the coronation itself will be live streamed in Cardiff Castle on Saturday, May 6 with the live streaming of the concert celebrations taking place in Cardiff Bay on Sunday, May 7.

Picnics and food festivals will be going on throughout the Bank Holiday weekend including Foodies Festival in the capital where Michelin-starred chefs and baking celebrities will descend on Cardiff for a weekend of food festivities showing off their recipes and sweet treats.

Food isn’t the only thing taking centre stage, however, as the new king is crowned. Foodies Festival promises a bank holiday full of music with performers including Scouting For Girls, Toploader and Callum Beattie. And Cardiff isn’t the only place diving into the three-day celebrations. Town and community councils across Wales are hosting street parties, firework shows, and carnivals.

Here’s a list of all the big events announced so far across Wales to celebrate the coronation. We'll keep updating it as we get more information and if you want yours to be included, please email stephanie.colderick@reachplc.com
