King Charles' 'big day' will clash with important celebration for grandson Archie

As 2022 begins its end, the new monarch will be looking at his jam-packed diary for the new year.

For King Charles, one of the most important days of his new reign is set for May 6, 2023, reports the Mirror. His coronation is set to take place on the same day as an important celebration for one of his royal grandchildren.

On Saturday, May 6 2023, the King's coronation will take place at Westminster Abbey, in what will be the biggest royal occasion in the UK in decades. The monarch will be officially crowned alongside his wife, the Queen Consort Camilla.

It is likely that all members of the Royal Family will be invited, alongside world leaders, state dignitaries and other important figures. However, this date is also key for royals Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, as their son Archie turns four on the same day.

Earlier in 2022, Buckingham Palace confirmed that the date had been chosen in consultation with the Government, the Royal Household and the Church of England. However, there have been no further details on why this specific date was picked.

This news comes as Harry and Meghan continue their rocky relationship with the Royal Family, as they stepped down as working royals almost three years ago to move to California.

Harry told Oprah Winfrey in an exclusive interview how he felt "really let down" by his father Charles, and claimed that he had stopped answering his calls in the run-up to the Megxit crisis and said there was a "lot of hurt".

Harry then criticised Charles' skills as a parent, saying that he expected his children to endure the pressures of royal life, and suggested that his skills left him with "genetic pain and suffering".

There has also been much discussion about Archie's title, with Meghan claiming he was wrongfully denied being made Prince - even though he couldn't technically get that title until the Queen died.

Charles’ accession to the throne now means Archie and his one-year-old sister Lilibet, are technically considered prince and princess in the eyes of the monarch. However, it has not been confirmed yet by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex or Buckingham Palace if the youngsters will use these titles in the future.
