A kind-hearted West Lothian Asda worker has been hailed as a hero after paying for a regular customer's shopping when her card failed.
Asda Livingston worker Diane Blackburn has been described as having a 'heart of gold' after dropping everything to spare regular customer Laura Wright's blushes when she had trouble paying for her groceries.
Laura, 36, was picking essentials for her twin nine-month old babies when her card malfunctioned at the self-checkouts. Diane, who has been working in the store for three years, didn't hesitate to tap her own card.

As the West Lothian Courier reports, Laura returned later that day to reimburse Diane and give her a thank you card. She said she was "blown away" by the simple act of kindness.
Laura added: "I was so embarrassed when my payment method wouldn’t work but Diane didn’t even hesitate to pay for my shopping, she truly has a heart of gold!
"I am so grateful to Diane and all the staff that tried to help me that night, we stay in contact now because of it, and I always make sure to have a chat with her every time in the store which is so lovely."
Diane's act of kindness did not go unnoticed with fellow staff members as she was nominated for a service superstar award by her colleagues at Asda Livingston.
Diane said: "I was more than happy to help Laura out when she couldn’t pay for her shopping, it wasn’t her fault, and I knew she had two young babies to get home to. She only had a small amount of cash so was going to put everything back, but I wouldn’t let her go home without everything she needed for her babies.
"Laura is such a nice person, and I would honestly do the same for anyone else who was stuck, I’m glad I was able to help."
Neill Whittaker, store manager at Asda Livingston, said: "Diane is a valued member of staff here at the store and what she did for Laura was so generous, especially in the current climate we are in.
"Even though we are one of the biggest stores in the country, there is a real sense of community at Asda Livingston and Diane is a huge part of that as she is always going out of her way to help customers and make them feel welcome. Well done, Diane!"
