A kind-hearted Edinburgh shop owner is giving out free sandwiches to customers, saying that he can't let people go to sleep on an empty stomach during the cost of living crisis.
Zahid Iqbal, who runs Day-Today in the Drylaw area, said the local community is "in this together" after winning over the hearts of many when he announced his shop would be giving out free sandwiches to customers during the week.
Using money that he was saving for a family holiday, Zahid decided to invest it in the project to give something back to the community after they helped his family following a recent fire and break-in at the store.
