Pete Davidson and Kim Kardashian are the names on everybody's lips at the moment as fans and followers speculate when the loved-up comedian will propose.
But he may have to postpone his plans for a short while to avoid any embarrassment after an old social media post involving Ariana Grande resurfaced.
Back in May 2018, Pete, then 24, started a whirlwind relationship with Ariana Grande, also then 24, and the pair got engaged within weeks.
At the time, Ariana penned several songs about her beau, including the sweet track "Pete Davidson" - an ode to the strong feelings she had for her man.
Sadly, it wasn't meant to be and the couple called off their engagement and split in October 2018.
The Pete and Ariana love story was a strong one, however, and many fans and followers would often say how they felt inspired by the couple and wanted a love like theirs; whilst Ariana's poignant lyrics were used on countless Instagram captions by fellow singers and fans around the world.
One such Instagram post that used Ariana's lyrics as a caption came from none other than Pete's new beau Kim Kardashian - and it's now resurfaced on the platform, much to fans' amusement.
Sharing a photo of herself wearing a tight black dress, with her blonde hair billowing in the breeze as she gets into a sports car, Kim Kardashian posted the lyrics: "Universe must have my back" with a sparkle emoji, onto her official Twitter account in 2018.
The caption came directly from the lyrics to Ariana Grande's Pete Davidson song and Ariana herself soon replied to Kim's post with the next line of the song: "fell from the sky into my lap".
At the time, Kim, now 41, had been married to husband Kanye West for four years and had recently welcomed their third child, a daughter named Chicago, at the start of the year.
But on February 19, 2021 Kim officially filed for a divorce from Kanye and the pair finally agreed to end their marriage due to "irreconcilable differences" in April, 2021.
That November, Kim and Pete Davidson, now 28, started dating and Kim was later declared "legally single" (no longer married to Kanye West) in March, 2022.
Whilst Kim could never have known back in 2018 that she'd end up in a relationship with the man who inspired another woman's song she was quoting on her Instagram page, fans have been left in hysterics at the bizarre turn of events.
Kim and Ariana's comments were shared by an Instagram account dedicated to amusing comments on social media by celebrities. The account, aptly named Comments By Celebs, shared a screengrab of the post - submitted to the account by Instagram user 'tlosarai' - with the caption "From the 2018 archives. #CommentsByCelebs h/t [hat tip, thanks to] @tlosarai].
Sarai later posted on her account "who would've known me being a creep and stalking kim at 2am would turn into a pop culture moment."
Comments By Celebs' screengrab has been liked more than 96,000 times and has led to hundreds of fans and followers sharing their views. Fan and vlogger Anna A Magee commented: "This aged beautifully" with a chef and kiss emojis, whilst podcaster Kay York commented: "Chaoticcccc" with an awkward eyes emoji.
Content creator Joseph Zambrano commented simply: "omfg," whilst fan Lori Garber said: "Well that's a collab I was not expecting."
Fellow commenter Shelynes added: "Spits my coffee out!" whilst an account called The Only Hoax summarised: "this aged like fine wine."
Earlier this month, Kim Kardashian admitted she had never planned to be in a relationship with Pete Davidson and that their love for each other had taken them both by surprise.
After they made their first public appearance as an official couple at the premiere for the latest series of The Kardashians, Kim appeared on Hoda Kotb's Making Space podcast and said: "I think that, you know, sometimes things happen when you just least expect it. It was the last thing that I was really planning on.
"And so when it did happen, we were kind of like, ‘Oh my God, I wasn’t planning on this. And this isn’t even what I was thinking of.'"
Although the couple have brought their relationship into the spotlight, Kim is still keeping some details away from the public eye.
She told the podcast: "I do think that I am holding, you know, a little bit more close to my heart on certain aspects of my relationship with Pete, and it feels good just to know that, like, we have this connection and we have our little bubble of a relationship world that we live in that, like, not a lot of people know about."
It was later reported that Pete will have to sign a "contract" if he wants to propose to Kim, to promise her "momager" Kris Jenner that he is committed to her, and their brand, for the foreseeable future.
Kris, 66, is said to be "fully onboard" with the relationship as she thinks he will make a great son-in-law and an asset to the Kardashians' multi-million dollar franchise.
