Kim Kardashian has revealed how long she waited before allowing her new boyfriend Pete Davidson the chance to meet her kids.
Pete and Kim began dating in 2021, but her kids North, 9, Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 3, didn’t meet the Saturday Night Live alum until six months later.
On Tuesday’s episode of The Today Show, Kardashian, 41, told Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie that she decided on that time frame after speaking to her sister Kourtney Kardashian, who is also divorced with kids as well as consulting therapists.
During the appearance, Kim said: “Luckily I have a sister that’s been through it all and we talked about it.”
She added: “I consulted with a few therapists and friends that have been through it. I definitely wanted to wait six months. That was the marker.”
Kim noted that “different things work for different people,” explaining, “You just have to do what’s right and try to be as respectful and cautious as possible.”
The Skims business mogul went on to gush about her relationship with the 28-year-old comedian, revealing to host Guthrie the first text message she’d sent to the star.
Kim revealed: “Yeah it was just... well he gave me advice... I ran into him a little bit before the Met and he gave me good advice, knowing that I was going to be on it [Saturday Night Live].”
Adding: “So I just reached out and said, ‘Hey thank you so much for that advice it was so much fun’. Just something casual like leaving it open.”
Speaking about her divorce from Kanye West, the star said that she’d waited “10 months before I was ready to open myself up. I think you definitely need that time to yourself.”
She added: “But once you’re ready to get out there I felt like I just wanted new energy and something different. [The relationship] definitely took me by surprise.”
The interview came just days after Kim reunited with ex-husband Kanye West at daughter North’s basketball game near Thousand Oaks, California.
Kardashian and West, who were both legally declared single in March, sat one row away from each other during the Friday event.
They reportedly spoke “from time to time throughout the evening and appeared to be cordial.”
