Kim Kardashian has filed to become legally single and move forward with her life without Kanye West, saying that no reconciliation will be “of any value at this time”.
The reality star submitted the documents in a bid to drop her marital name, according to TMZ. She asked the judge to separate child custody and property from marital status. If and when the forms are signed, Kardashian will legally be single.
In legal documents obtained by PA, Kardashian said there would be “no prejudice” to West if the marriage was dissolved and that both parties deserved the “opportunity to build new lives”.
“I submit this declaration in support of my request for an order bifurcating and terminating the status of my marriage to respondent, Kanye West,” she said.
“Irreconcilable differences have existed and continue to exist between (West) and me, which have caused our marriage to irretrievably break down.
“No counselling or reconciliation effort will be of any value at this time.
“There will be no prejudice to (West) if our marriage is immediately dissolved, especially given the fact that throughout our marriage, we adhered to the terms of our premarital agreement and maintained the separate property character of our assets.”
She continued that she had been trying to settle the issue since filing for divorce in February 2021 but that West had not responded to her request.
“(West) and I both deserve the opportunity to build new lives,” Kardashian added. “Therefore, I am asking that my request to bifurcate and terminate our marital status be granted.”
Last week, Kardashian and her two children – North, 8, and Saint, 6 – attended West’s Free Larry Hoover benefit concert with Drake, where West made a public plea to win her back.
During a performance of the rapper’s classic hit Runaway from his 2010 album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, the 44-year-old pleads, “I need you to run right back to me” before adding: “More specifically, Kimberly.”
Last month, he also made a public announcement at Los Angeles’ Mission’s Annual Thanksgiving event.
“The narrative God wants is to see that we can be redeemed in all these relationships,” he declared.
“We’ve made mistakes. I’ve made mistakes. I’ve publicly done things that were not acceptable as a husband, but right now today, for whatever reason — I didn’t know I was going to be in front of this mic — but I’m here to change the narrative.”

Meanwhile, things are going onwards and upwards for the 41-year-old Keeping Up With The Kardashians star after she took to Instagram on Monday to announce she had passed her baby bar exam.
In a lengthy celebratory caption, she shared how she had failed the first-tear law students’ examination “three times in two years,” but she “got back up each time and studied harder and tried again until I did it!!!!”
This is just the first of two the Kardashian will have to pass to be a qualified attorney. She pointed out that the first test has a “harder pass rate” than the second – so she should pass with flying colours.
Good for her!
