Kim Kardashian is said to be seething that her older sister Kourtney was able to be a guest at the recent Oscars ceremony as she attended alongside her fiancé Travis Barker.
Now Kim, 41, is said to be desperate to steal the spotlight back off her sister by taking 28-year-old Saturday Night Live boyfriend Pete Davidson to the upcoming Met Gala as her official date and to make their red carpet debut as a couple.
Kourtney, 42, was able to attend the Oscars as 46-year-old Travis was performing as part of the awards’ house band – but the fact that Kourtney was at the most glitzy event in Hollywood is said to have left Kim seeing red and green.
Now Kim is said to be plotting her outfit for the Met gala and to ensure that Pete is by her side as she hopes to grab as much attention as humanly possible for herself.
A source spilled the details to Heat magazine, saying: “After seeing Kourtney grab all the attention, Kim is making it her mission to make the Met Gala her big red-carpet debut as a couple with boyfriend Pete Davidson.
“She is desperate for them to have the Mets as their red-carpet debut and nothing is going to get in her way. She wants to up the stakes after Kourtney’s big moment – it may sound petty, but Kim and her sisters are still fiercely competitive.”
The source goes on to imply that Kim is only dating Pete in order to compete with Kourtney and her tattoo covered lover Travis.
The source said: “Kourtney thinks she’s just doing this for attention and to compete with her. Kourtney has really been enjoying her moment in the spotlight after years of being on the sidelines and feels as though Kim can’t let her have it, even for a minute.
“Kourtney just wants to fight it out with Kim and tell her to back off and get her own style, but Kim is ignoring it and feels that whatever she’s doing is fair game. But Kourtney has accused Kim of wanting to be part of the ‘cool gang’ and has said she’s not invited.”
The Mirror has contacted Kim and Kourtney’s spokesperson for comment.
Kim is well known for making a splash at the Met Gala – an annual charity event which sees famous people gather together with proceeds benefiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York.
The star used to appear in extravagant outfits when she was married to Kanye West – appearing one year looking like she was naked and dripping with water, and another dressed completely in black from head to toe like a Dementor from Harry Potter.
But Kim will have a new plus one this year as her seven-year marriage to Kanye came to an explosive end last year.
The rap sensation has been lashing out at Kim and her new boyfriend Pete in recent months – leading fans to be concerned for their safety.
Kanye also saw his performance at the recent Grammy Awards be cancelled due to his concerning outbursts – and recently pulled out of performing at Coachella this month.
