Kim Kardashian is fearful her hair might fall out after she spent 14 hours dyeing her locks platinum blonde ahead of the Met Gala 2022.

The 41-year-old Skims designer, who wowed on this year’s red carpet when she stepped out in Marilyn Monroe’s iconic dress, has opened up about the lengths she went to in order to achieve the look.

Speaking ahead of the star-studded event, Kardashian explained to her sister Kylie Jenner that there was a ‘risk’ that her hair may fall out after the lengthy process.

Kardashian’s remarks were heard in a recent YouTube video, shared by Jenner on social media, that features the duo getting ready for the fashion event of the year.

“I cannot believe you’re really dyeing your hair,” Jenner told her sister, as she tried on her Off White dress, adding: “you’re so bold for that! You’re so bold.”

Kardashian then explained how long the process had taken.

“Oh I’ve been doing this for 10 hours already. I’ll risk getting my hair to fall out,” she added.

In an interview with Vogue, Kardashian revealed that the entire process had taken 14 hours. She said she intends to stay blonde for a while.

Kardashian made a dazzling appearance at this year’s Met Gala when she stepped out wearing Monroe’s actual dress to walk the red carpet.

The dress, that the actress wore when she sang “Happy Birthday” to President John F. Kennedy in 1962, is usually stored in a temperature and humidity-regulated vault at Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Museum.

Kardashian wore the multi-million dollar garment only briefly as she entered the Met Gala, before changing into a replica for the rest of the evening.

Speaking to Vogue about the dress, Kardashian said she wasn’t prepared to risk the garment in any way.

“I’m extremely respectful to the dress and what it means to American history,” she said. “I would never want to sit in it or eat in it or have any risk of any damage to it and I won’t be wearing the kind of body makeup I usually do.”
